I, CULTURE Orchestra is a unique, innovative project of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, one of the flagship projects of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. The orchestra was formed on the example of such ensembles as European Union Youth Orchestra or West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. It brings together young people from Poland and countries from Eastern Europe, such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The idea behind creating I, CULTURE Orchestra, was to emphasize the influence of both Western and Eastern cultures on the cultural identity of Europe and drawing attention to the wealth of the heritage and ancient traditions of European countries from behind the eastern boarder of the European Union. The orchestra consisting of 111 musicians was created during a three-week workshop conducted by some of the greatest orchestra musicians of the world. The concert that will take place at the Lublin Concert Hall is an introduction to the European tour, during which the orchestra, conducted by Paweł Kotla and Sir Neville Marriner, will perform at famous concert halls in Kiev, Berlin, Brussels, London, Madrid and Warsaw.
