The production is based on a novel by one of the most popular and recognised Russian writers, Ludmila Ulicka. A complex image of personality and life of the title character, Daniel Stein emerges from the bits of letters and notes. On an aesthetic level the performance refers to Hieronimus Bosch’s painting “Seven Deadly Sins”. In spite of obscure inspirations the director eagerly reaches for absurd humour which endows the performance with a vividly grotesque character.
