Piotr Borowski who founded Studium Teatralne has been involved in theatre work since 1975, his first experience was associated with Grotowski’s Laboratorium and Gardzienice – Centre for Theatre Practices ; 1977-1983 he was an actor and musician there. He also worked in the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski in Italy. On his return to Poland he began launching his own theatre projects. In 1995 he set up Theatre Workshop at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, from which Studium Teatralne evolved. nd Their first performance, The City, was awarded Critics’ Prize at the 2 International Theatre Confrontations Festival in Lublin. It was followed by ‘Midnight’, a play based on Mickiewicz’s ‘Dziady’, presented in Pontadera, Milan, Belo Horizonte (Brazil), Moscow, Croatia. Their most recent production, ‘Man’, is an attempt to respond to the nature of our times. It is like a mirror in which the eternal and brutal desire to improve the world gets reflected. The production was inspired by Martin Buber’s book , ‘Gog and Demagog’. The protagonists believe that the world will be purified and saved only after the outbreak of a great war initiated by a great leader.
