Professor Zbigniew Hołda Award Ceremony will be held for the fourth time during the Festival. Zbigniew Hołda was an eminent Lublin inhabitant and a lawyer, who for many years was vividly interested in human rights and penitentiary law. He was also a defender of freedom of artistic expression. The Professor Zbigniew Hołda Association gathers lawyers and the disciples of Professor Hołda, who are willing to stay faithful to the objectives he set for himself in his personal and professional life. In recent years, the award was given to Ewa Milewicz, Halina Bortnowska and Monika Sznajderman.

In 2015 the organisers invited Hubert “Jahdeck” Pyrgies to cooperate on the Professor Zbigniew Hołda Award Ceremony. Apart from being a co-founder and leader of musical sensation Chonabibe, Hubert Pyrgies is a versatile musician, an artist specialising in beatbox and a tutor of creativity. In the past, he was a founding member of Al-Fatnujah, a band that we appeared on stage with during the 2009 World Beatbox Championship in Berlin. In the July and August of 2015 he conducted a series of music workshops in the State Penitentiary in Opole Lubelskie where – together with seven inmates and the Penitentiary’s Culture Officer Łukasz Pruchniak – he co-founded a beatbox band as part of a workshop programme commissioned by the Confrontations Festival and the Centre for Culture in Lublin. As a result, all the participants recorded a number of tracks, including their beatbox interpretation of T.Love’s cult single “To wychowanie” (“This upbringing”) featuring Muniek Staszczyk, co-author of the song, vocalist and leader of T.Love.

The effects of the workshops will be premiered live on stage during the Professor Hołda Award Ceremony at the Centre for Culture in Lublin.
