It is simply an intimate concert for two actors based on a drama by Piotr Wawer senior, directed by Weronika Szczawińska. The starting point for the text, which transforms the documentary formula in an original way, are autobiographical experiences. The author goes back to the 1980s and the events of his wife’s death. The story, triggered by a tragic medical error, concerns not only personal experiences, but becomes a moving record of institutional abandonment, the ethical collapse of medical structures and social sensitivity. These issues, despite the passage of time, sound disturbingly current, and the author’s voice surprises with bitter humor.

The performance based on the drama exposes not only the story, but becomes a story about memory and its mechanisms, about how we build the narrative of our lives, we refer to the story – this time on our own terms. Extremely autobiographical content becomes the basis for empathetic understanding with the audience, private and public matters intersect, and the documentary story is confronted with innovative and minimalist theatrical means.

The authors of the show are Piotr Wawer senior, an important figure in the Warsaw non-professional theater scene; Łukasz Stawarczyk, one of the most expressive actors of his generation, associated with, inter alia, with the German kainkollektiv; Marta Szypulska, an original visual artist of the young generation, and director Weronika Szczawińska, winner of the Polityka Passport in 2019, for this particular project.
