The dreamy vocal songs of Antonina Nowacka evoke the echoes of Far East music and religious songs. And they themselves are largely made up of echoes.

Antonina Nowacka – vocalist / sound artist who uses the voice as the basic instrument and sound building material. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture of Indonesia in the field of musicology, student of Hindustan classical music under the supervision of the singer Shashwati Mandal. Co-founder of the multidisciplinary band WIDT and the music duo Mentos Gulgendo.

He is interested in alternative forms of voice use, extended vocal techniques, vocal practices of Eastern cultures and deep forms of sound processing and synthesis. Last year, her solo album “Lamunan” was released, recorded aloud and its echoes resonating in the tunnel of the Modlin fortress as a result of many hours spent on vocal practice in Javanese caves. Lamunan was very warmly received by the critics, hitting, among others, the list of the 100 best albums of 2020 prepared by the British portal Quietus. The vocal sketches recorded in the deserted provincial churches of the state of Oaxaca in Mexico, published this year, are a kind of continuation.
