The main star of the show SCHUBERT. A ROMANTIC ARRANGEMENT FOR TWELVE PERFORMERS AND A STRING QUARTET is the music and certain segments from Franz Schubert’s biography. We will hear, among others, his most famous piece Death and the Maiden, along with a contemporary response composed by Wojciech Blecharz.
The main aspect of this scenic take on Schubert, involving actors from the Wałbrzych theatre and a group of elderly participants, students of the Sudetenland University of the Third Age, is the use of the performers’ bodies and their sense of humour.
The string quartet, made up of musicians from Lower Silesia, plays a slightly different role to the one we are used to.
The four parts of the quartet, performed by the musicians live, represent four separate parts of the performance, which goes on to speak about that which is hidden, shameful, sensual and trans-intellectual.
A key aspect of the show is the choreography, created with help from the performers; through motion, we want to awaken imagination and empathy. Classical music, separated from expectations and stereotypes, serves as a partner and is ready to contain the desires and dreams of each one of us. Come, be swayed!
