“MOTHER DOESN’T LEAVE. NOT HER DAUGHTERS. MAYBE THE MOTHERS LEAVE THEIR SONS? FROM THE AUTHORS? THE MOTHER LEAVES RÓŻEWICZ. She DIDN’T LEAVE ME. SHE ONLY DIED.”

MIRA MARCINÓW

Shockingly painful,  sincere, gentle and tender – that is what Mira Marcin’s book “Bezmatek” (Motherless) is. It tells about an experience that is universal and in which almost all of us were or will be participants.

I invited two wonderful actresses, Katarzyna Tlałka and Maja Pankiewicz, who are associated with the Ludowy Theater in Krakow, and the artist and musician Adam Witkowski, half of the Nagrobki duo, to participate in this project. Together we will try to read the Marcin’s book and find hope there, because there is a lot of love and death there.

A tale about mourning

Once upon a time beyond the seven graves, seven years,

beyond the seven regrets

There was a girl without a mother and without nails, that is,

a Disney’s girl,

Even though she lived in mourning, she was terribly happy.

Even though she was orphaned, she was terrible.

And although she lived without mothers, she was terrible.

And although she lived horribly.

And although she was alive. ”
