Their first LP record, Woman Blue, premiered in April 2016. It contains compositions created which accompany folk tales about women from North America. Alongside laments, songs of hunger and hopelessness we also encounter stories of women who committed crimes or had supernatural gifts. All of these tales are woven around the dramatic and yet hopeful experiences of women who came to North America – either of their free will or as slaves. Their pain is transformed into powerful testimony, lyrics bringing to mind myths of wild women, reminiscent of Women Who Run With the Wolves by Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estes. Musicians make use of cymbal, balafon, guitar, mandolin and vibraphone in searching the blues for the sounds of Africa, wedding traditional Irish tunes to the music of distant prairies.
