After a five-year pause, Agnieszka Holland is back on screen. The screenplay of the film is adapted from a novel Prowadź swój pług przez kości umarłych (Drive Your Plough Over the Bones of the Dead) by the Polish writer Olga Tokarczuk, nominated to the Nike Literary Award.

The film tells a story of Janina Duszejko from the Sudety region, an elderly engineer and a vegetarian with a love for astrology, who finds the body of her neighbour, a hunter on a snowy night. The circumstances of the man’s death are really mysterious. The only traces that can be found at his house are the spoors of deer. Seeing the impotence of the Police, Duszejko starts her own, unconventional investigation.
