The symbolic atmosphere of the corridor shown in the film is suspended between “yesterday” and “tomorrow”. Many things open to the unknown. The director, also starring in the main role, wanders around the rooms of a dilapidated Vilnius’ tenement house. Accompanied by an extremely intense soundtrack, the viewers watch a series of extremely expressive faces, gestures and images. Using loosely connected scenes, the film tells the story of the lives of several random characters, such as a man who peers into apartments and watches people in the square in front of a building. In The Corridor, we see reconstructions of experiences which shaped the director’s generation. It is also a picture of the troubled recent history of Lithuania. Eimuntas Nekrošius makes a cameo appearance in the film.
