The Moscow based company Praktika is one of the most active centres of contemporary drama in Russia, distinguished by their innovatory approach to theatre, best expressed by their repertoire in which one can find the major works of contemporary theatre. Praktika was set up in 2005, adopting as its mission an objective to reflect the complexity of reality and ask questions central for present day society.Eduard Boyakov, an artistic director of Praktika, searches for currently vital topics and new language among the new generation of playwrights and directors. The Hairdresser is a story about a young woman from a provincial town who sincerely believes in her dreams in which the criminals appear to be Hollywood characters. The audience listen to her monologues expecting her dreams to fail. However, there is no simple answer to the question where and when one should abandon one’s illusions.
