A moving tale of the Warmia people’s search for identity. The investigative documentary style is brought about by the narrator who conducts what amounts to an investigation into the world of the film’s heroes. It shows their incredible histories, the places and documents connected with them. The film begins with the discovery of tragic murders near the town of Olsztyn, committed by the Red Army in January 1945. It features the witnesses of those dark events who survived, but then became victims of rapes, resettlements and deportations to the Soviet Union.
