Oskaras Korsunovas, one of the most interesting young European theatre directors, known for his extraordinary productions, including a shocking performance of „Shopping and Fucking” (Theatre Confrontations, 2001) and an excellent interpretation of ‘King Oedipus” (Theatre Confrontations, 2003), accepted our invitation to demonstrate a fragment of his work. In Lublin he will run a workshop with young Polish actors, based on Gombrowicz’s Bakaka,i and the result of this artistic debate will be presented in a form of a 45 min performance. We are expecting a remarkable presentation, for although the director makes a reservation that it is going to be ‘an intuitive improvisation’, we may presume that it will be a presentation of some methods he uses in his work, his approach to Gombrowicz and theatre, and a demonstration of his individual theatrical narration of which Korsunovas is a true master. He knows perfectly how to make literature a point of departure for constructing a consistent artistic vision, without losing its meaning, while enriching it with the visual aspects of theatrical images and rhythms of dramatic construction.
