Although Teatr Wytwórnia is a new phenomenon on the theatrical map of Warsaw it has already been recognised by the editors of Przekroj weekly as the most interesting new company in the city, Wprost weekly awarded it with ‘Znak na Tak’ prize. In their first season they presented 9 premieres and won several important prizes. What a good beginning. „Kalimorfa” is a performance which proves that a good off-scene can measure swords with the great legends of literature and film, at the same time offer still another dimension. A story of an entomologist-collector of insects, who kidnaps women and attempts at making them fall in love with him, is a painful poem about a struggle with mediocrity. I do not know how long it has taken Krzysztof Franieczek to sculpt his protagonist-monster. I know that he created an unusual person, full of controversies; evoking compassion and repulsion (…) A performance by Wytwórnia is off at its best (…) You can see how much Kalita learned working with Warlikowski and Jarzyna (…) There are modesty of means and refined images; the purity of theatrical writing and perversion; threat and mystery with one’s reach. .
