The play is based on the sixteenth century old Belarusian chivalry romance – Trishchan the only version written in prose of this wellknown legend which has been preserved in Slavonic literature. Numerous comic scenes and a lack of ending allowed the playwright as well as the company the freedom of structuring the famous characters of Tristan, Isolde, King Marco and Maid Braginia in their own manner. This buoyant production saturated with humour, although staged at the oldest theatre in Belarus, is performed by young artists. It is a poetic performance distinguished by distinctive visual and musical elements. In the reviews the critics pointed to an astonishing combination of tragic and comic approach to life, romantic nostalgia of beauty and postmodernist irony.
