Polski Theatre, Bielsko-BiałaThe Jew
Can a Jew be a patron of Polish provincial school?
Can we get rid of prejudice for 30 thousand dollars?
How to welcome and what to offer to an unusual guest?
The production is constructed around the discussion which takes place during teachers’ meeting at a provincial school. It throws light, sometimes in a grotesque form, at typical Polish anti-Semitism and power of stereotypes. “The Jew” is a performance which originated during theatre workshops organized by Tadeusz Słobodzianek and Laboratorium Dramatu in Nasutow. It was awarded Grand Prix at the 3rd Festival of Contemporary Polish Drama “R@PORT” in Gdynia.
